We need a public diplomacy which fits our time. The policy issues which confront us are increasingly global. Systematic engagement with publics both at home and abroad will be required if we are to identify and implement solutions.

Jim Murphy has co-authored a booklet on "The Politics of Aspiration". It is a detailed analysis of the challenges of matching the near fatalistic poverty of aspiration of the few and the almost limitless aspirations of the many.

Jim Murphy has joined forces with the Policy Network think tank to produce a pamphlet on Social Mobility and Public Service Reform. It contains contributions from a variety of high profile international thinkers and was co-ordinated by Jim Murphy.
