Last week I played in a charity football match at Dumbarton FC for Glasgow based charity Revive. Revive MS Support is a charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis. Over 10,000 people in Scotland (1 in 500) have MS, the highest prevalence of any country in the world, so there is significant demand for services and support.

This week Jim Murphy attended the 15th anniversary reception of the Internet Watch Foundation, an online organisation tackling child sexual abuse. A staggering 87,000 child sexual abuse webpages have been removed in 15 years thanks to the work of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF).

Meningitis Trust has a new campaign called ‘Here Today, Gone Tomorrow’ highlighting the true lifetime burden of meningitis – on the victim, their family, friends, community and economy.

Last week plans for East Renfrewshire’s flagship College scheme collapsed crushing hopes of improving Barrhead’s town centre. The scheme, launched two years ago, aimed to bring hundreds of students to the area and to give the local residents a new library, community centre and crèche. The college was hoping to also offer 3,500 vocational places to encourage young people into industry.
