The school exam results are great news for East Renfrewshire. The SQA Higher and Intermediate results have just been released and as hoped all of East Renfrewshire’s schools performed very well. The hard work of both students and pupils saw Scottish schoolchildren achieve some of the best results ever.
East Renfrewshire saw fantastic results with young people in S4 achieving the highest ever results at SCQF level 5 (Intermediate 2). More than two thirds of the year group across East Renfrewshire achieved 5 or more qualifications at this level or better, up from 61% in 2011.
The Higher results for S5 pupils continue to be some of the best in the country with almost one third of pupils achieving 5 or more Highers. This year Barrhead High school achieved their best ever performance for 5 or more Highers.
Finally, pupils of S6 sitting Advanced Highers outperformed last year’s results by achieving fantastic grades. Over one third of young people in East Renfrewshire achieved 1 or more Advanced Highers.
Jim Murphy MP, pictured here with East Renrewshire pupils Scott Wishart and Daniella Di Bona, said
“This is great news for so many local pupils and families. It is a real tribute first and foremost to the students for all their hard work. But congratulations also goes to all those who supported them in achieving such great results, so well done to parents, grandparents, careers, teachers, and support staff.”
