Local MP Jim Murphy and MSP Ken Macintosh are launching a special set of awards for East Renfrewshire’s hard working public servants. The East Ren representatives are organising the first ever East Renfrewshire Public Servant of the Year Awards.
The Awards are to recognise the dedication and commitment with which the area’s public servants perform their duties. All areas of public service will be recognised, with awards for everyone from council workers to teachers to NHS workers and more.
If you know someone who deserves an award please contact Jim and Ken’s assistant Lynsey at lynsey.jackson@parliament.uk with your nominations. The person’s name, job title, what category they’re being put forward for and a couple of sentences on why they deserve the award should be included.
Alternatively nominations can be sent to Suite 4/5, 1 Spiersbridge Way, Thornliebank, East Renfrewshire, G46 8NG.
Deadline for nominations is Friday 18th May.
Ken said:
“We all rely on local services but more than that we rely on the dedication and commitment of the people who work in each of these services.
“How many of us have had cause to thank our kid’s teachers or our local doctor. We all notice when things go wrong, but how often do we get the chance to thank the Council workers and others who keep East Ren clean, safe and lovely place to live.
“I hope many local families will feel as we do and will be delighted to have a chance to recognise the public servants that work so hard for our area.”
As well as writing to public services directly to ask for nominations, Jim and Ken are keen to have members of the public nominate a public servant that they think deserves to be specially recognised.
Jim said:
"We have so many local staff doing brilliant work in so many ways and this is a new way for local people to say thank you and well done to those who have went out of their way to help.
"We dont say thank you often enough in our society but this is a way for us all to do just that. So if you know someone who should be publicly recognised please think of nominating them."
