Jim Murphy MP has expressed his support for a new memorial in Neilston, East Renfrewshire, to honour local soldiers.
Jim has given his support to a dedicated volunteer group in Neilston that is working towards the establishment of a new definitive monument that will give respect to many of the fallen soldiers not commemorated by the other memorials in the area.
As Shadow Defence Secretary, Jim has placed the wellbeing of soldiers as a priority and wishes for their sacrifices to be remembered.
Jim commented:
“I fully support the calls for a new memorial."
“I’ve often thought, particularly around Remembrance Day, that Neilston ought to have its own special place where people can gather to remember those who have died in times of war, serving their country.”
